So I borrowed my friend's AK Loree which is IH24, but has barely been played and still looks and feels new. My oboe is a Royal, normal bore. Needless to say there are some big differences.
The biggest difference is that the AK high register (A and above) sits up SO much nicer than my regular bore. My Royal has a lot more gumption to it, but I realized that other than orchestra, I'd much rather be playing the AK.
I was wondering for AK bore players and Loree regular bore players: Is this a tendancy of AK bore? Does the upper register sit up much more comfortably? Perhaps my friend has an exemplary instrument.
I used to play on an AK in college, but that was a long time ago and I didn't have a regular bore to compare it to.
