wow, this is interesting stuff

... difference tones are sort of the audial equivalent to the visual flash of green the brain sees after staring at red?

... sometimes when listening to 2 oboes playing harmonies together on recordings, i've wondered if maybe there's 2 or 3 of them, or maybe E-horn is playing in there because notes seem lower, perhaps that would be hearing those difference tones ?
