Re: Are there any good ways to transition b/w the high register notes?

A few things that help me...

- Make sure you're really, really supporting and 'blowing between the notes' always, but especially in this register

- Make sure you have rolled off the half-hole enough. The high register is particularly sensitive to this (in terms of response and pitch)

- It helps in general in the upper register to imagine aiming the air out of the top of your head. To get the hang of this, look upwards while you do it. I find that helps smooth out the connection a lot because it means that you're blowing/supporting the right way

- Mentally practice the upper register fingerings a lot until you can really visualize yourself putting down the right fingers in the right spot. Because the fingerings are so confusing, often a lot of the problem is that you're just 'going by feel' without really having the mental control over what your fingers are doing.

- Once you isolate problem intervals, do as many rhythm exercises as possible between them (i.e. dotted eighth sixteen and vice versa). This will really get your comfort level up.

Hope this helps...

Graham
