It was working just fine earlier today and then just now, I went to practice and the notes using the second octave key won't come and then all notes but the B and C either come out as squeaks, *very* fuzzy, or not at all.
It hasn't been bumped around or anything so I can't figure out for the life of me why it just stopped working!

Is there water blocking the upper 8ve bush? You could have condensation in the 8ve bushes.
With just the top joint, cover the holes with your LH fingers and cover the end of the tenon with any your right fingers to seal it up. Blow into the reed socket and open the octave keys (both 1st and 2nd) while blowing to blow any water out, and then do the same but suck the air out instead.

And check you haven't bent any of the linkages (RH D trill link, F#-G# link and RH 1 link) or knocked any cork off these links, or the cork isn't fouling the D trill link keeping the D trill key (on the top joint) open.

I don't think that's it :( I'll probably take it to get checked tomorrow. I just hope it's a simple thing to fix and won't cost much. Thanks for you help!

I agree with Chris's water-in-the-octave vent diagnosis. If it's really retaining water, then maybe somebody can pull the vents for you and clean them out.
On the other hand, the one-and-only time that this happened to me, it turned out that the two main joints had slipped SLIGHTLY off kilter (too much cork grease, or maybe it was in the winter, when things had shrunk, or maybe it was just one of those things). At any rate, it sure didn't play, and I was in a panic. I didn't see the problem right away, either.
So, maybe just take it apart and put it back together.
Could also be some sort of spring thingy, I suppose. These darned beasts have a secret life that they don't tell us about . . .

couple of other DIY checks
... is the semi-auto octave mechanism stuck or sticky with fraction of second delayed drop? -- no lint or fine threads or a hair stuck in it? -- may need tiny drops of key oil to loosen up all moving parts of this mechanism
... is the spring under 2nd 8ve key off its hook?

Is a key sticking down and not coming back up? I had a shock when the A key was getting stuck and not coming back up. I couldn't tell as the A key would pop back up after a delay and it didn't show itself except when I was playing.

Stephen
