Even I don't know why there was a bore adjustment done on my newish (2001?) Covey. I had been having a lot of water problems, and sent it down to Atlanta for them to look at. I was simply told, "I did some bore work," and I guess I was supposed to know what that meant.
I have heard that excessive wetness can cause bore distortions, so maybe that's what it was about -- putting it back to pristine?
The oboe cracked two weeks later, btw, from the trills down to (but not including) the little "C" tone hole. Cause and effect? I have no way of knowing.
All this was two years ago. The oboe has been repaired, and is playing remarkably well, but I don't know what role the bore adjustment had, if any, in all this. Does anybody?
