Hi Chris, I can certainly agree with you. How about adding Albinoni to that list ? Vivaldi's Oboe Concertos are excellent but he's a lot more difficult to play whereas Albinoni had a complete understanding of the Oboe , Vivaldi seems to have had difficultly getting Violin writing out of his head when composing for the Oboe hence his Oboe concertos are more exhausting to perform whereas Albinoni gives the Oboist lots of practical places to breathe.
I've performed Albinoni's Oboe Concertos Number 6 op 7 in D and Number 3 op 7 in Bb. For me, much easier to play and very enjoyable to perform.
But all the Oboe Concertos of Albinoni and Vivaldi are excellent and are easy listening. I have friends who are not 'into' the music of 'yestercenturies' but they like the Oboe music of these Baroque composers.
