Will likely sound better with an American "long scrape reed."
My question would be whether this Kohlert oboe, being made before WWI, may in fact be tuned to a pitch standard other than A=440.
It is not uncommon to find pre-WWI instruments pitched at A=437.5 (old "low pitch"), A= 452 (old "high pitch"), or any of a myriad of regional ("band" pitch)
standards...
