Interesting that OboeCraig posted that he would avoid Fox English horns just as I was about to write an endorsement of them.
I teach at a few schools that own pro model Fox EHs (500 or 510). I think that these instruments have excellent scales with great evenness through the whole range, which makes them extremely reed-friendly. I find that I have to fuss endlessly with my reeds to make them both stable and warm enough for my Loree EH (with Hiniker bocal). The Fox is a great value, as well.
Whichever brand you choose, I'm sure it's worth trying several different instruments with many different bocals to find the best match for you as a player.
