Do you not play the music to sound most musical? Unless you were born with the perfect pitch, why does it matter if it is equal or natural scale?
Do you not play the oboe to sound the best with others, either together, lead or follow?
Unless of course you are unable to tell what sounds the best or most musical, kind of scale should not be in question.
OK... We should all be tuned to the same pitch level to start. Other than that, your ears should be the guide, or you may be in wrong business.
