Thanks for the info. Herr Frank should be informed that this instrument is giving him a bad name in the UK. The Howarth showroom is one of the only places one can sit and play (and compare) many different instruments in one sitting.
I would recommend he take it back and soup it up a bit, since it compares poorly with the other instruments in the shop. it is a thumbplate model, which is very popular in UK. Also, if there are reeds that work better with this instrument he should supply some.
