Wow, I kind of wish I'd asked you all earlier now!! That all throws everything up in the air somewhat... Points taken (although I had always thought that flashy-and-impressive would be a good idea, guess I was wrong about that).
Right, then Lalliet is definitely out. I will maybe stick with the Britten as Pan is quite good for lyrical. One of the Telemann movements is slow too, so I may stay with that, although I'll look through the rest of the book today and see if I want to reconsider.
How about movement 1 or 2 of the Saint Saens? I can play that without much prior practice, and that would obviously involve an accompanist, and is nicely tuneful. Other options could be the Mozart or Haydn slow movements; or Grovlez? Any other suggestions? (Not only have I not got much time left, but I am away for a day with work, and am moving house next week too! So I need to pick things I can already play!!)
I quite like the idea of turning up with several possibilities as GoodWinds did, and asking them what they want to hear, so I might stick with that. I'll just change my possibilities.
(Incidentally, they haven't asked for anything from memory, that was just my decision. I won't get too hung up on it.)
The orchestra re-auditions everyone every 2 years, and one of their oboists is leaving, so this is a good chance for me - I hope! All they have specified is a 5-min piece and some sightreading.
