Hello,
I have a Mönnig Oboe d amore (Albrecht Mayer with two bells) and have to say that this is an absolutely stunning instrument. The dynamic range and the response is something I have not experienced with any other instrument.
Intonation is generally good with the exception of g'' and e'' (first octave), which are both sharp when compared to a'' and d''. f'' is ok. g' and e' are also ok.
I have this problem with all my reeds and all bocals I tried (Loree, Mönnig, Hiniker and Howarth). Changing bells has also no effect. I also tried a third bell...
Has anyone had similar problems before and can recommend what to do? Could it help to try different ocatve inserts for the first octave?
Tips welcome!
