you are NOT having a discussion about dogs without ME!!!!
My wife and I have 3 small dogs in the house and they are the center of our lives: though we make efforts to treat them as dogs and not as furry babies!
Popcorn is a chihuahua-maltese mix: he sometimes likes to howl as I play the oboe.
Sometimes he'll start only when I play the altissimo register, but then he'll continue over it all. I'm kind of hoping it's neither pain (for him) nor a sign of bad tuning!
Peppercorn is a cocker-spaniel/shih-tzu/poodle mix. She just needs to sniff my oboe all the time and climb on my knee to lick my face while I'm playing
Beethoven is a mix of miniature sheltie and pomeranian. His sheltie parent weighed 10lbs.... HE WEIGHS 30 lbs!!!! No, not an ounce of fat: we keep them all well exercised to help with good behaviour and prevent arthritis in down the road (all 3 are at risk of something or other).
=> we call him Beethoven because he is deaf... but he does sometimes seem to react to noises and we are really careful to be sure it can't be some kind of vibration or percussion on the floor. He doesn't know he's deaf and he doesn't care. Very obedient and always pays attention to me (more than my wife). We communicate with hand signals and his communication with ears, eyes and such is crystal clear!
=> he has a "corn" name to be part of the pack: "bee-corn"... together, they are the tri-corns!
My opinion about dogs is clear: there was a chart-topping country song on the radio last few months (I listen to country when driving: keeps me awake without aggravating me!) that says "God is great, beer is good and people are crazy!".... I substitute-in DOGS ARE GREAT!
I NEVER thought I'd like small dogs (my wife insisted), but these guys are just amazing! Adorable, endearing, entertaining, loyal and obedient.
