My dog is my surrogate child...not being yet in a position to have human ones, I have a canine substitute.

Asha will always be with me in my music room if I am playing or teaching - the students have got very used to her! When she was younger, she used to lay against my leg as I played, but now she lays about a metre away. And sleeps.

She has a taste for clarinet reeds, so I quickly learnt that only discarded reeds could ever be at dog height. I tend to keep oboe reeds for their staples, so I don't know if they would sate the appetite.

She did have an accident on a pack of band music once after leftover curry that got sneaked to her bowl. Craig, pee-stained would have been a blessing!

It will be hard to leave her behind for the two years we will be in the US - no one to keep my feet warm as I practice!
