You definitely want advice from Americans here, especially some with recent audition experience. But this is my 2 cents:
Memorization: no
Microphones:
go to your local electronics store and ask for a high-quality recording device, but NOT the real professional end model: it can mess-up your sound if you don't take enough time.... you have better things to do.
=> Possibly a reasonably good handicam is the best thing for you.
Choice of music:
Usually, the college will recommend music. Otherwise, choose something you are comfortable playing. They don't want to be dazzled, they want to see what you can do. Do a really good job with something you know is better than just passing rougher stuff.
General attitude:
RELAX!!!! Do your "weight lifting" (difficult practice) before, but when time comes for the audition, do your best to just have fun playing the music and enjoying the instrument (forget the technical stuff): you will play better that way too. If you're videotaping, plan several days in a good room: listen to the tape to see if it helps your sound and don't be shy to try again and again.
My best encouragements and BOY I wish I was in your shoes again!
