Try to arrange a trial period, and that is usually a week, and have a good teacher or pro check it out.
Or have it sent to me and I will be happy to do that for you.
With the budget you expect, you can get a great pro instrument.
I will say, all the recently made pro instruments I've tried the past few years were good. I could perform happily on any of them. Loree, Covey, Marigaux and Fosatti on the lower end. I play Yahama synthesizers and even one of their flutes. They are all fine instruments, as well.
