Well, I've got a plastic oboe, so I don't have problems with the wood, but I do have a MAJOR problem with the reed drying out. Here in the (American) Midwest, it is truly said that "it's not the heat, it's the humidity", and so in order to survive the humidity, I just absolutely HAVE to have a fan blowing in the room to move the air around, otherwise it's just unbearable (not everyone has A/C), and I've learned the hard way to keep the reed out of the direct line of the fan's breeze when I take it out of my mouth and lean forward to turn pages, because it'll dry off just like *that*.
And I find myself putting it into its film canister for water every so often, just for general dryness, because spit just clogs up the reed.
Since I have the fan blowing, I don't have trouble with sweaty fingers sticking to the keys, but I do have trouble concentrating when rivers of sweat are running down my spine.
But see, this is the true test of the Oboe Enthusiast, if you can keep your head and play scales through the middle of a Midwestern summer when all around you are losing theirs and going back downstairs to watch TV instead. :D
