The other thing, sosuna, is that oboes are very fussy instruments. ONE screw turned the wrong way by a quarter turn can make the entire instrument unplayable.

So while you are getting the tenon corks replaced, you might consider having the instrument adjusted. If it's a school instrument, it has probably been some time since it was adjusted.
