Some years back at an IDRS Conference, David Weber was showing a variety of bells all made to identical dimensions, using the same reamer. The only difference was the wood. There was grenadilla, rosewood, boxwood, zebrawood and a couple of others I forget. I had thought that the interior bore dimensions were what controlled the sound of an instrument, but to my amazement, each bell made an entirely different instrument of my CR Lorée.
Just add THAT to the instrument/reed variables and things get really complicated!
I'm sure Cooper can add some more hard data to this observation...
