I'm curious as to HOW the bell makes a difference in sound production.
I know that the inside of English horn bells are specially shaped and adjusted; is it just a matter of space and the contours of the walls, or what?
I think that on the OUTside, bells can be shaped differently for aesthetic reasons. For instance, I like the look of the bell without the metal ring, but I'd rather have the metal ring to protect the wood from dings and such.
