Hi --
I am a reed buyer pretty much exclusively. Like you, my eyes have started to go, and I just don't think I could ever make a reed that functioned as well as those I buy (and adjust).
I have tried reeds from an enormous variety of makers, and I think you will probably want to do that, also.
As I have suggested elsewhere on this board recently, you could start by going to http://reedreviews.net/, click through to the reedmaker sites, and then decide which ones you want to try.
If you will scroll down through the list of reedmakers on the left hand side of the main page at reedreviews, you will notice that there are listings for reedmakers in Europe and Australia, as well as the U.S. I do know, for example, that K. Ge makes both short and long scrape reeds, and others may, as well.
