I would suggest an adjustable thumb-rest as a replacement.
The two makes I use:
Selmer silver #C4915S available from Brook Mays Music c. $40.00
A truly well engineered thumb-rest. I use this on oboe,
oboe d'amore, English horn, and bass oboe.
Jupiter adjustable clarinet thumb-rest about $25
A large music store with a repair department should have this in stock
The Jupiter may not fit in some "French style" cases though
