...so many good ideas out there! It is TERRIFIC when people in this highly technical world can still improvise!
I also have a swab with a ball-bearing type chain (think flexible old key chain) at the end, and I find this 'rolls' through the upper bore of an oboe smoothly with no chance of scratching or denting the wood. (Just check the little ball-bearings for nicks or sharp edges, and file or polish if you need to.)
I think one could easily attach said chain to a piece of cloth with some sewing thread. Glue makes me nervous.
