I'm with you, oboe Drew; for years I've taken what I can get and managed to get good-sounding reeds. I just work with the density and shape etc to make it play.
I WOULD like a referral to a source of cane that's consistently dense/hard. You professionals can direct me; my local oboe guru is a fan of Glotin and I've done well in the past with that maker.
I can't gouge or shape (numb hands, a big problem) so need to purchase already shaped pieces.
Any direction is welcome. thanks oboe-board posters!
