Ah, the perfect batch... it's a mixed blessing and curse, isn't it? It spoils us. It's great while it lasts, but then there's the agony of withdrawal! For this reason, I prefer to work with cane that's just "good." Like 8ish on a scale of 1 to 10. When I run out, I know the next batch will be just as good. Don't get me wrong... I don't seek out mediocre cane. I just don't search too hard for exceptional cane. I suppose this approach will seem odd to some, but it works for me. It keeps my reedmaking consistent. And it's less stressful.
