Tell her to imagine that a grapefruit is resting on her tongue. This is Tom Stacy's image & I think that every time I play. Especially during the high register notes, second octave & above. Also, tell her to envision & try to "nail" the belly button against the spinal column. It is so critical to engender an untrammeled air column under continuous pressure as much as possible. Without taking a breath, have her play a staff A as long as she can. Repeat this four or five times a day. Then gradually add to her regimen the long tone triad series in Jay Light's "Essays for Oboists" As he says, this is bread & butter. Even a beginning oboist will sound pretty good if these conditions are met & diligently practiced.
