Dear Joe,
A lot of this depends on what you need at your current level. How long have you been playing, how old are you, and what are your aspirations? For someone in middle or high school, a Fox 333 or 330 is a very decent instrument that is available for 1800 to 2600 new. It is not until college that I would look at Lorees. The Foxes are of comparable sound quality with good craftsmanship and resale value, they simply do not have the projection or tonal complexities that the Lorees do. My high school student just purchased a Fox 333, and it sounds fabulous. In my opinion, save your money, get a Fox, work on your reeds and playing, and you will be very happy.
