Well thanks again! More good advice!
I never thought to measure my hands; I'm at eight inches thumb tip to pinkie tip. Probably average for a woman.
You're right: I want to pick it up and take off from where I left off ignoring the thirty or so years of hand lip and lung deconditioning in between.
I'll remember to focus on the basics; long tones, scales etc. with attention to hand position as you have suggested. Maybe a mirror in the music room so I can see what they're up to. Probably best to work on me before starting to mess around with the keywork.
Perhaps I was just looking for a quick fix instead of doing the hard work!
I do have to bring the "new"oboe in for a complete overhaul so maybe I'll get some advise there. The overhaul is going to be about half the price of the oboe; I had no idea it was so costly.
A NEW Barrets? Sounds like another visit to Aamzon.
