Every once in a while on the radio, I hear an oboe sound that I would characterize as the ideal sound, the one I would strive for. It isn't that often, which surprises me, because there are many horn players whose sound is in my "ideal range." Unfortunately I only listen to the radio when I'm in the car going to or from work, and I can't write down whatever group was playing at the time.
So....I'm asking for suggestions of specific oboists to listen to, who embody *your* idea of the ideal sound. I figure that if I can get a "short list" of people to listen to, I might stumble on to one of those few who seem to embody *my* ideal sound.
So....can you give an example of a recording that has what would represent your idea of an ideal oboe sound on it?
