The F vent will either lower slightly or not at all when either E or forked F is played (depending on the length of the rocker and the venting of the main action), and adjusting the venting won't affect the pitch - Marigaux cors have an extra adjusting screw to adjust the opening of the F vent pad, though most makers don't have this.
Adjusting this F vent mechanism will mean going around it several times to be sure it's working.
With this mechanism you have adjusting screws on either end of the rocker and an adjusting screw on the F vent key itself. Check the closure of the F vent along with both RH 2 and 3 fingerplates and adjust so all three will close with even pressure - use the adjusting screws on the rocker to get it nearly there, and the adjusting screw on the F vent key to get it perfect.
Check all the pads with a cigarette paper to be sure all pads are closing. Over adjusting the F vent or rocker will cause either RH2 or 3 pads to remain slightly open, so you may have to back off either of the rocker screws or the F vent screw.
Once you have set that all correctly, use the adjusting screw on the low C key touch arm to close the F vent fully to prevent the lower altissimo being too sharp or not speaking, and check RH2 is slightly open when the low C key is closed - the adjusting screw for this is either further down the joint (below the RH Eb key) or a second (outermost) adjusting screw on the low C key touch arm.
