I'll ask my question in this stone thread.
I have an Arkansas fine that I use on my Landwell knife. It seems to do a good job of sharpening it, at least as far as I can tell. (Can't really tell much yet since I have nothing to compare it to.) But I noticed that the part I had been using to sharpen has gotten "smooth" and doesn't bite any more, and I had to move to a different part of the stone. I use oil but have no idea how much oil I should use....I just put sort of a line of oil on the stone where I'll be rubbing on it, and then wipe the oil off when I'm done. Is this "smoothing" of the stone normal? Can I clean the stone somehow if it is getting clogged?
