I'm not a big fan of that Nancy Ambrose King CD you spoke of although most of the music on it is pretty good (I don't like the Holst much though).
Marty Hebert and David Buck (Principal oboe and flute of the oregon symphony) recently gave a recital of music for Oboe, Flute, Cello, and Piano. There were some really awesome pieces! Definitely check them out:
Trio Serenade in F minor, OP. 73 for Oboe, Cello, and Piano (Robert Kahn)
Plaints and Airs, for Flute, Oboe, and Piano (Maurice Wright)
Courtship Songs, for flute, oboe, cello and piano (Stephen Paulus)
Trio in A for Flute, oboe, and piano (Franz Reizenstein)
If you know a cellist these pieces are definitely worth looking into- They are all really melodic, some of them modern but in a good way, and all have great parts for everyone.
