I've only use stands at home.
Our rehearsals and concerts are without a break so I hold the instrument on my lap like everyone else (talking about clarinet here, not oboe).
I we did have a break, no way would I leave it on a stand or on the chair unattended. People are so careless, and forever edging their seats around, stands, passing music, chatting etc.
I wonder what goes through their mind when someone sits on their oboe.
'Oh goody, an excuse not to practise next week!' ;-)
