I'm wondering whether there are "moderned-angled" necks for my Selmer Low-c bass clarinet, built in 1988. Tilting my head back aggravates a bulging disk in my neck, so I think I could benefit from the sharper angle which appears now to be the norm.
The neck comes in two pieces. The larger one has the register key (vent?) and between it and the mouthpiece is a connecting pipe with no holes, other than the ones at both ends. It seems to me that replacing this shorter, simpler tube with one with a sharper bend might work.
So, do these modifications exist, and if so, do they work or introduce other problems?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Newer Selmer necks are angled much more steeply. Call a shop that sells them and see what a replacement neck costs and ask as well if they're interchangeable with older basses.
