The absence of "hard rubber tarnish" on a mp this old indicates...to me...that it is not hard rubber but, rather a "bakelite" type material. These old WW mouthpieces were very popular and individual pieces can be quite acceptable. Sax players typically use a looser embouchure than clarinet players and an "open" tip with a softer reed is preferred by many. I am under the impression these older WW mps were made in Wisconsin by a Division of the Horton Co.....but am not positive.
