I play a Covey and like it so much I sold the Loree I had at the time.
Mine in circa 1986 and like the post about the 1988 has all those wonderful characteristics.
I did play on firend's recent vintage Lorees, both AK and Royal models and found the newer AK very much to my liking. It was offered to me for $5K, but I declined in favor of keeping my Covey.
I sent it back to Paul about 8 years ago for a general adjustment and otherwise have maintained and adjusted it myself for years.
Mine still plays so well I can't make a good decision to buy a different oboe, other than for backup and possibly future needs, but I will give the Covey first try next buy and if its as good as I expect, will probably look no further.
In case you are not aware, Paul inserts the upper tone holes with Delfin pieces before forming them so they are 'crack-proof' or pre-crack fixed from the start. Check his web site for better information on this.
