I think the contact cement generally works better if you apply it to both the key and the cork. Then after it dries for the specified time, stick 'em together. You need to cut the cork piece out a little larger than the end size required on the key, because once you touch the two pieces together, the contack cement "grabs hold" and you can't adjust the position of the cork. All you do then is trim off the excess cork with a single sided razor blar or a good sharp Xacto knife.
