Here is the response I got from Peter Perret (with his permission), regarding his Jarde oboe (the one I played last summer):
"I obtained my Jardé (D14) through my father's mother in Geneva Switzerland in 1958 or 1959. I know no more about it except wikipedia lists Jardé as pre WWII. Mine has a 3rd octave key, but I had the low Bb resonance hole added. The forked F resonance came with the instrument.

I will now ask him if he knows whether the oboe was new or not when he obtained it. At any rate, his is fairly close in serial number to the one I just bought (D29).
