I have 5 Jarde' oboes, including a "Gomberg" (Harold) model.
Some play very well indeed, though others will need to make a pilgrimage to David Weber or David Teitelbaum for reaming/voicing. Jarde' was overall a very good/excellent maker. Keywork is very well crafted.
Most (not al) Jarde' oboes were professional models, some even with 3rd octave key, though often will lack a left F key. Sadly No record of the serial numbers exists.
Most of my Jarde' oboes have a serial number beginning with a C or a D.
My best guess is that Jarde' worked from the late 1930s though about the late 1960s. I surmise that the "C" instruments were made in the late 1940 through early 1950s.
Most "Jarde' " oboes d'amore and English horns were most likely made by Orsi.
The "Jarde' " oboe d'amore is an odd creation. Odd bore, odd tone hole placement,
a short tube, though still achieving A=440 pitch. The sound is very appealing though. The Orsi English horns (a number of "stencils," including" V. Barcone,"
"Royal" [Nielsen], Jarde', etcetera) made "pre-buyout" at times will rival and equal
Chauvet, Malerne/Laubin, Loree.
