I have an oboe that is stamped “F. Gillet” with a serial number of A75. I cannot find anything that helps me figure out who the manufacturer is. (I have tried searching online, and even had another long-time oboe player look at it here in town. Unfortunately, I am in a town of 100,000 people with minimal oboe players.)
History of the oboe is that that my mother bought it for me in late 1990s from an oboe player who was in our city’s symphony and was retiring. I think the guy had the oboe since the late 70s or early 80s. The guy swore up and down that it was a Loree despite nothing on the oboe indicating it is, however, it is in a Loree case. Any help, or direction to someone who could help me would be much appreciated. I can post pictures later today if that helps anybody.
