Hi
Last May I finished a couple of Kilo's of cane I used over the last 10 years. It was brought back by an oboist - who took a trip to France and brought back the cane to sell here in the US. I have no idea who the cane grower might be.
Here's my problem, since I finished the cane - I haven't really found a suitable replacement. I make reeds that are playable - but just don't have the same quality as before.
Now the cane was aged over the ten years - so this may be a factor among others.
I am quite frustrated - anyone on the BB have a similar experience?
I have already tried about 5 or 6 different makes of cane. Some better than others - but my hunch is the cane is just not aged enough. Or maybe something else!
Comments................Suggestions?
Buying cane is comparable to buying a good wine! We need to know the year and vintage!
