Sounds like it might have something to do with Selmer. Check out the Selmer USA website they have a history of H & A Selmer incorporating their relationship to Henri Selmer Paris who also have a history on their website although it is a little unreliable and may be in French or German. The H & A thing sounds like it may have been a Selmer USA clarinet made in France for sale in the USA. Just a theory!
