Thanks for the advice. Regarding what I expect from the teacher, I'm really not sure. I once had a piano teacher who was far too easy-going and I made painfully slow progress. My clarinet teacher is quite different. He expects a lot more commitment and consequently I see a huge improvement in my playing.
No matter what he'll be like, I'm just looking forward to getting his advice for a decent oboe to buy. We live quite close to where Bulgheroni make their oboes, but like everything else in Italy, it'll probably be cheaper buying from elsewhere!
