I had a Rigoutat Expression which played great in the beginning but went very high after.Eventually it got stolen and I bought a Marigaux 901 which I still keep.I started as a student with Marigaux oboes,of which one of the two i had when I was younger was exceptional.I'm used to them but I feel that they are changing for the worse. The high notes are not as easy as they used to be and the tone is brighter, although much deeper than Howarth,Lorée and Yamaha for example. There's a maker in Berlin that makes those called Springer oboes.Very nice sound and fantastic high range, but low notes are extra hard. But of course all this oboe business is about adapting and getting used to something:It's impossible to test all oboes in the market,I guess...
