Hi Susan,
Yes it does, and the more Russian the vodka the better. At least for some styles of improvization I enjoy...
However, as I have learned reed making and vodka do not mix well. At least not for getting the good reeds in the process. Damned reed tip corners tend to tear off.
I can reliably make a bad reed while enjoying some vodka, probably one reason I like to finish reeds with the morning coffee!
And now and then in a pinch, a little vodka to sterilize a reed seems to work. At least the germs like it.
