The same with Marigaux oboes. When I upgraded to a second-hand, nothing special, Marigaux my teacher asked if he could try my bell on his top of the range Marigaux because he was unhappy with one or two of the notes on his oboe (ones with the second octave key open I think but can't really remember) and thought it came from the bell. It was better with my bell (even I could hear a difference) but I had to hold the bell in place while he played as it wasn't a tight enough fit and he was worried it might slip off.
