If possible consider the oboe your Julliard instructor(s) play. I am sure they can teach very well to anything you bring, but still, oboe makes do have differeing tendencies.

Think of the differences as a bias factor... I mean like how different microphones sound so different when recordings are played back...even with the same oboe, reed and oboist just changing mics can make them sound very different.

Oboes also color the sound in their own characteristic ways... thats bias.

And the bias becomes a part of a player's style, teacher's style, etc.

Getting on the 'same page' with your teachers with a familiar instrument will facilitate your learning in the next few years.
