Ok, seems like I am not the only one who thought this could be useful. I guess for complete strangers to the oboe it could also serve as an introduction to the instrument. It is obvious that there are so many ways to play it.
The amount of work to do it is not that big, just a quick table, the names and it is sort of there. I do not plan to have a lot of work with it. As clips and names come in, the site will grow, with time perhaps with more goodies for oboists, maybe reed crows as one suggested.
For this gallery to be of true value, the sound quality must be good. I find wma format at 64 Kbps to be superior to other formats for that bitrate. Comparing original cd sound with the wma file in headphones show no real alteration of sound. It is comparable to an mp3 at 128 Kbps.
I have registered a free site and thrown in a handfull of oboists, Tabuteau is also there (I guess he should be, as he is so important to many people, though this might not be the best sound clip. It was all I had)
Have a look at http://www.oboistgallery.8m.net.
