You can use methylated spirits and a cotton bud to clean dirt and grease off cork pads with (and clean the other pads and bedpaces).

But if you want to get them flat (but not lose the impression), you can grind them using the finest grade pumice block (which has to be ground flat on a surface block) or 1200 grit wet or dry glued to a sheet of glass to keep it flat, and grind the face of the pad down slightly to smooth it out.

Hold the key with the pad flat on the pumice block or 1200 grit, and gently rub it lengthways across the surface to sand the surface down. This will make the surface look clean and crisp, but won't lose the seal provided you don't press on one side too much during sanding, or lose the impression by sanding too much off.
