If your top joint holds it's seal for that length of time and it's playing as good as you want it to be playing (even though it has splits that have been dealt with), then there's no reason to get a new top joint - which could split within the first year of you having it.

Better the devil you know.

I test joints in the same manner, suck the air out and seal the top with your lip (so the vacuum sucks your lip in) and with either the back 8ve or G# key then held down after creating a (partial) vacuum, see how long it takes for them to pop open.

Or with Blu-Tack on the fingerplates to seal them, close them all, suck the air out, lift all fingers off the fingerplates and see how long it takes for them all to pop open.
